If you are a fan of essential oils like I am, you will love this list of winter essential oil diffuser blends to add into your mix this season! On a cold chilly day, warm your home up from the inside.
What I love about these blends is you get that fragrant aroma that makes you feel like it is a cold winter day, it might remind you of special family traditions or memories from the past, and it helps to purify your air. I have a wide range of blends and some even work perfectly for fighting those nasty germs that could be floating in the air!
How to Know if Blends Will Smell Good
I get asked from time to time how do I know if a blend will smell good. What I do is pick out the essential oils I am thinking, hold them in one hand and then sniff. It will allow you to inhale all the different scents and give you an idea of what it will smell like when it begins to diffuse. That might help give you an idea of where to start and how to begin creating your own special blends using oils you have on hand.

I get my essential oils from a few places. I get some from Young Living Essential Oils – particularly their Theives products. And sometimes I’ll pick up a bottle or two from the local health food store if I happen to need some while I’m there.

Candy Cane
4 drops Peppermint + 1 Drop Spearmint + 1 drip Cassia
A crisp and sugary sweet scent to fill your home. Great for relieving a headache if you have one as well.
Woodsy
1 drop Black Pepper + 1 drop Pine + 3 drops Grapefruit
This will give you that winter woodsy feel in your home. It is very earthy and barky on the smell.
Gingerbread House
1 drop Clove + 1 drop Allspice + 1 drop Cassia + 2 drops Ginger
If you love that spicey smell from gingerbread cookies you will fall in love with this rich blend. It will smell like you just made fresh cookies for your family and friends.
Cold Winter Night
2 drops Bergamot + 2 drops Northern Lights Black Spruce
This is a very outdoorsy smell and will make you feel like you are outside looking up at the northern lights on a chilly winter night.
Happy Holidays
1 drop Pine + 1 drop Cinnamon + 1 drop Orange + 1 drops Ginger
This to me smells like a Christmas house, like mulled cider and fresh cookies baking and you have that aroma that fills your home.
Holiday Cookies
2 drops Lemon + 2 drops Marjoram
These two combined almost smells like a lemon sugar cookie or a quick bread that is fresh out of the oven to me.
Fireside Blend
2 drops Frankincense + 2 drops Cinnamon + 2 drops Orange
Nothing like sitting by a fireplace as it crackles away and has that sweet smell of baked goods being baked away in the oven. This is one of my favorite holiday blends.
Fresh Snow
1 drop Clove + 2 drops Cardamon + 2 drops White Fir
Smells like fresh outdoors right after a nice heavy snow blanket on the ground!
Germ Fighting Blend
3 drops Cinnamon + 2 drops Lemon + 3 drops Clove + 1 drop Eucalyptus + 1 drop Rosemary
Diffuse this blend at least 30 minutes each day to really help reduce germs in the air. You can also do 5 drops of Thieves in your diffuser as well for the same effect.
Sweet Manger
2 drops Myrrh + 2 drops Frankincense + 1 drop Orange
A very sweet but earthy blend that is a tribute to Jesus in the manger.
Christmas Tree
1 drop Patchouli + 2 drops Pine + 2 drops Fir Needle
This will give you that real Christmas tree smell in your home. If you aren’t a fan of fresh trees, I wouldn’t recommend this blend.
Uplifting Winter Blend
2 drops Orange + 2 drops Eucalyptus + 2 drops Peppermint
Give yourself a mood boost with this blend. It has that winter aroma with a bit if citrus scents that help lift moods! This is great if you have been stuck indoors for a long time.
Spiced Cider
3 drops Orange + 3 drops Nutmeg + 1 drop Clove
Gives you that rich spiced cider smell that you love to sip on a cold winter night!
Healthy Immune Booster
2 drops Peppermint + 2 drops Thieves + 1 drop Frankincense + 1 Oregano
Diffuse this to help cleanse the air and give yourself an immune boost. With winter there comes a lot of germs so stay as healthy as you can with this blend.
Fresh Winter Air
2 drops Rosemary + 2 Drops Lemon + 1 drop Lime
This is a crisp and cool blend that will make you feel like the fresh air from the outdoors is flowing in! I love that clean air smell in the winter.
Winter Wreath
3 drops Balsam Fir + 2 drops Pine + 2 drops Blue Spruce
Make your home feel like the smell of your winter wreath that hangs from your front door! I love the smell of fresh live green wreaths.
Peppermint Surprise
4 drops Peppermint + 2 drops Ylang-Ylang
This gives the peppermint a nice sweet and refreshing scent. It is a nice blend of the traditional peppermint aroma.
Falling Leaves
10 drops Clove + 3 drops Black Pepper + 2 drops Cinnamon
Granted leaves all fall off during the fall months, but this blend smells heavenly in the winter as well.
Pumpkin Pie
4 drops Cardamom + 2 drops Clove + 2 drops Cinnamon + 1 drop Nutmeg
Give that aroma of a freshly baked pumpkin pie, that will make your mouth water.
Cup of Eggnog
7 drops Nutmeg + 2 drops Vanilla + 1 drop Cinnamon
This blend gives you that rich and spiced scent that is similar to a cup of eggnog. It is a really fun blend.
Candy Cane
3 drops Wintergreen + 3 drops Orange
You get that mint paired with citrus for a perfect blend that will really give your home that perfect blend of spice and sweet.
Mulled Wine
3 drops Mandarin + 3 drops Orange + 3 drops Clove + 1-2 drops Cinnamon
Love that wine aroma, well why not create this blend to diffuse. Start with one drop of cinnamon and if you feel like it needs more then add one more drop.
Nutcracker Blend
3 drops Christmas Spirit + 2 drops Orange + 1 drop Peppermint + 1 drop Grapefruit
I love the citrus paired with the Christmas Spirit and Peppermint. It is a fun and unique blend that really fits Christmas time.
Mommy Kissing Santa
2 drops Patchouli + 2 drops Bergamot + 2 drops Ylang-Ylang
You get that woodsy aroma paired with sweet, which is really fragrant. You can even do just 1 drop on the Patchouli if you prefer.
